Texas Road Trippin'

My husband and I are always down to go road-tripping and the past couple of weekends we have caught the need-to-get-out-of-town bug. Now, we are currently a one-income family so we never go do extravagant things on these road trips, but it is the simple things that make them the most meaningful.

Our first trip was a day-trip to Fredericksburg - our favorite place ever. We have dreams of one day buying a place and moving there because there is nothing more rustic, raw and beautiful than the Texas Hill Country.

We stopped by our favorite winery, and then our eyes caught a glimpse of the Magnolia Pearl. It is this beautiful, old house that has been restored and turned into a clothing boutique that specializes in vintage wearables that are considered works of art (literally, a tattered t-shirt was $99).

After the shell-shock of those price tags, we went to downtown and walked the sidewalks popping into our favorite shops and I alway have to stop into Texas Wine Cellars where they have both local wine and beer - I love the Thirsty Goat beer from Austin.

Our second trip was to Deep Ellum district in Dallas - my first time there and it will be somewhere we go regularly. Super pet friendly! We grabbed an AirBnB right in the heart of Deep Ellum and spent all day Saturday walking around checking out local art, pubs and landmarks (there are a few pretty impressive dog parks in the area, as well!).

One of my favorite places that we found was St. Pete’s Dancing Marlin. We opted to sit outside since the day was gorgeous and we had the pups with us - our waitress immediately asked if she could feed our dogs bacon and came back with a double handful. Needless to say, Toby and Harper were in heaven. The food was on point and so was the Deep Ellum IPA.

Where is your favorite place to road trip to?

100 Days To Brave - Day 1

( Click here to order your copy ) I've noticed several of my friends sharing their stories on social media lately with the hashtag #100DaysToBrave, and my curiosity took over so I downloaded the book to my tablet. Let's just say, I think I have found a new favorite daily spiritual devotional.  Perfect. Just what I needed. Something short, sweet and meaningful to add to my day.  The first assignment (day one) is to make a public declaration that you are committing the next 100 days to ‘being brave’. I honestly do not know what this means in my life but I’m beyond excited to find out. Couldn’t we all use a little more bravery in our life? Lately I have been feeling like something is missing in my life. I don't believe in coincidences. I think these next 100 days of brave is God calling to me to dive further into Him. To explore my faith. To embrace and completely utterly surrender to His plan. To not just sit back but to ACT on His plan and make an impact. So toda...

New Chapter in His Life

He did it! Travis graduated high school, and Mom and I were beyond blessed that we were able to fly out and be there with him on his big day.

Friday Night Musings

It dawned on me tonight that I have no life. I'm not sure if it was the fact that I am home, alone, on a Friday night or... yeah, there is no "or". I have no life. So I sit here, glass of wine in hand, and have tried something fairly new. I went to Hobby Lobby last night and loaded up on all kinds of scrap-booking paper, Mod Podge and wooden foundations for my soon-to-be amazingly decoupaged projects.  This one turned out pretty cool, I think. I have no idea what I'm going to do with a decoupaged picture of myself, but whatever. It was a practice run. :) I still have no life, but at least I know how to entertain myself for a few hours without getting into some sort of mischief.
